“I first came to Everglades in 2022. I retired from the Air Force in 2019 and already had a Bachelor’s in Psychology from another institution. I found myself to be very bored post retirement and I love learning, so I decided to go back to school. I chose to pursue my Bachelor’s in Alternative Medicine because I’ve lived with chronic pain for several years and conventional medicine was not cutting it in terms of helping my situation. I wanted to learn alternative methods to care for myself and others. After finishing my Bachelor’s I chose to keep going by pursuing my Master’s in Public Health Administration with a Concentration in Functional Nutrition. My overall goal is to hopefully meet the requirements to obtain a position to teach online as a college professor.”

“The Librarians and staff helped with questions on how to research and access information, which was challenging at first. I believe Student Services Director Mrs. Julie Bloom has been very helpful, because of her readiness and availability, sometimes at the last minute, to answer questions and to guide me. As a matter of fact, she is still working closely with me in finding the right fit for my new career. I am extremely grateful and thankful for her belief in me. I’m certain that with the training and knowledge gained from the professors and with the guidance of Mrs. Julie Bloom, I will succeed. I am also confident that with this expertise gained, it will be invaluable to my future in making positive contributions to Public Health and Nutrition in the United States and possibly the world.”
